Dock Camera Integration

This release introduces support for the DJI Dock 3's internal and external cameras, giving operators additional visibility into the dock environment before, during, and after a deployment. This update integrates two additional cameras on the dock: an inside view of the drone and an outside view of the dock’s surroundings. Teams can now more accurately monitor weather conditions, observe drone launches and landings, and maintain awareness of activity around the dock directly within Watchtower.

Improved Video Reliability

Watchtower 2.15 also adds a new dock-based video streaming option. While Paladin's platform continues to support LTE-enabled drone operations, operators can now view video relayed through the dock when operating nearby. This provides an additional video pathway that can improve video quality and reduce interruptions in environments where cellular connectivity and bandwidth may fluctuate.

For example, when a drone is flying in a densely populated area where cell towers are handling thousands of connections each, the drone may switch connections between towers based on whatever is fastest at any given moment. This can cause buffering, interruptions, or low video quality. When communicating with its dock through radio, however, a drone’s connection becomes stable and more reliable since there are no other devices fighting for a signal. With tactfully placed docks throughout a jurisdiction, this added connection route provides improved stability and supports a seamless video streaming experience.
